Transceiver Communicator
The Transceiver Communicator is used for sending and receiving files and documents between human parties interactively, lawyer - client, doctor - patient, manager - employee, government - citizen…. The Transceiver Communicator is not primarily meant to be used in automation processes although the recipient can be a Transceiver Automator. It has an inbox for incoming files, an outbox for outgoing files and a sent-items box which serves as a detailed timed log for all files sent.

| To securely transmit files, the Transceiver Communicator can be used in the following ways: | |||
| - | the user adds one or more files using the <New Transmission> tool-button | ||
| - | the user selects one or more files in the Windows Explorer and right clicks the "Send To, Transceiver Communicator" context menu | ||
| - | the user drags and drops one or more files into the transmission canvas of the Communicator | ||
| - | the user right clicks a file in the Communicator sent-items box and clicks the <Resend> option | ||
| - | the user selects the "Send To, Transceiver Communicator" menu option in Microsoft Word when the add-in is installed | ||
| - | the user selects the "Send To, Transceiver Communicator" menu option in Microsoft Excel when the add-in is installed | ||

All files in the boxes can be moved and copied to disk-folders and can be deleted. Right clicking the file(s) and clicking the desired option does the job. Clicking the <delete> button deletes the file. Deleting a file in the Transceiver Communicator does not delete the original file in the file system. Double clicking a file will try to open the file and the associated application to manage it.
Minimizing the Transceiver Communicator window brings the application automatically to the notification area (near the clock). When files arrive to the inbox, a small notification window shows up at the bottom right corner of the screen. You can leave the Transceiver Communicator minimized during the day. When idle, it automatically checks for incoming files every 5 minutes.
The Transceiver Communicator installs on a Windows based workstation, server or portable and communicates with a Transceiver Server. It is started like any regular Windows application from the Program Files menu or from a Desktop icon. The Transceiver Communicator will start up automatically if it was not started yet when it was called from the Windows explorer or from the Excel or Word add-in.
The Transceiver Communicator internally uses the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition database to store references to the actual files, logs, accounts and address book. This database can hold up to 4GB of data and since the Transceiver Communicator only stores the references to the actual files in the database, the storage capabilities are almost unlimited.
Technical aspects

| If you install the Transceiver Communicator behind a firewall the following technical aspects need to be taken into account: | |
| - | Allow access to a DNS server, so that the Transceiver Communicator can resolve DNS calls because it needs to find the Transceiver Server to which it is registered. |
| - | Allow outgoing traffic on TCP destination port 22220 towards the segment of the Transceiver Server, if the Transceiver Communicator is not residing in the same LAN segment as the Transceiver Server so that it can transmit and receive files to and from the Transceiver Server (see how to). |
Transceiver Word add-in
The Transceiver Word add-in is used for sending files directly from within Microsoft Word. When the menu item “File, Send to, Transceiver Communicator” is clicked, current document content is copied and sent to the final recipient using the transmission window of the Transceiver Communicator. This is the fastest way for sending Word documents securely. |

Transceiver Excel add-in The Transceiver Excel add-in for Microsoft Excel installs as a menu ribbon snap-in into the Microsoft Excel application and it works closely together with the Transceiver Communicator installed on the same computer. Using the add-in, the information worker can directly and seamlessly transmit the document being edited towards the final recipient in the most possible secured way.The Transceiver Excel add-in is used for sending files directly from within Microsoft Excel. When the menu item “File, Send to, Transceiver Communicator” is clicked, current document content is copied and sent to the final recipient using the transmission window of the Transceiver Communicator. This is the fastest way for sending Excel documents securely. The Transceiver Communicator must be installed and tested on the machine before installing the Excel add-in. |
